Laos Travel in 2013

Dear Travel Helpers,

Luang Prabang, Vang Vieng and Vientiane are popular tourist destinations in Laos.

The monsoon season runs from May to November. March until May it can be very hot and humid. The driest and coolest months are from November to February.

It's a nice country. I really enjoyed it there.

Hello Community,

With a diverse cultural inheritance from India, Thailand, and China; ancient imperial histories; a mixture of Hindu and Buddhist religions; and the romantic remnants of French Colonial architecture, Indochina is the perfect setting for a thrilling OAT adventure. On this in-depth journey through Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam, we delve into the distant past. You will explore the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Bangkok, Luang Prabang, and Angkor Wat discover the lost kingdoms of the Khmer, the Lao, and the Vietnamese and tour some of Southeast Asia's most impressive temples and palaces. Along the way, you will meet local residents in their villages and schools; uncover traditional crafts like silk-weaving and paper-making; and discover some of the region's most remote locales. It's an adventure like no other.

Best Regards,
Montana Marla

If you're "attacking" Laos from Northern Thailand, the slow-boat from Chiang Khong down the Mekong to Luang Prabang via Pak Beng is a great way into Laos and a good way to meet travellers from around the world. We did it in December 2009 and thoroughly enjoyed it - I can give you more details if you want them.

Dear All,

Thanks for your reply.

never been in Laos, would like also to know where is the best place to stay of course I want it to be near in white sand beach.

I'm not sure what you know about Laos, Chardcrest but the only white sandy beaches you'll find there will be on the banks of the Mekong; Laos is land-bound!
