Hey Everyone,
I am off to Bangkok on the 28th January. I am a solo traveler and its the first time I am travelling out of Europe.
If anyone is around at the same time let me know?
At the moment I have not decided whether to head to chiang mai(north) or Phuket on to singapore(going to the islands)?
Any advise would be great? i am only going for 2 months.
January.
There will be at least a million tourists in Thailand this January.
Two months means you will have to play with your visas. How long you can stay in Thailand or Singapore is affected by the passport you enter with.
Singapore will be more expensive than Thailand. Bangkok will be much cheaper than Phuket. So if staying within a set budget is a concern Thailand will be a bargain unless you are in Phuket.
Go to Chiang Mai then go south even if you must go through Bangkok again. If you have a one-way ticket to Bangkok and a one-way ticket home from Singapore that probably cost more than round trip to Bangkok and returning to there from Singapore. I think I spent around hundred dollars US to go to Singapore by train from Bangkok. Seat 61 has info on trains.
Hey FW66,
First off dont be nervous, you will be perfectly fine and have a great time, You will meet loads of people out there and make lots of friends, so truly dont worry.
Secondly dont plan too much, have a few points that you fancy visiting /an outline route and then let events on the ground decide how long you stay, and where you move on to.
As to route, as karazyal says, your visa will expire after 30 days so you may want to cross over to Malaysia around that time.
Good luck
So, how is Bangkok? would you recommend it? i'm going to Guangzhou, China on the 31st of Jan
