Champion of Travellerspoint?

I'm interested to find real travel champions of this website. It was great to use the map function, where I uploaded my trips to 108 countries covering the distance of 780 000 km.

But on what should a ranking be based. Surely not on the numbers of countries visited? Someone who would dedicate a single trip, to let's say Spain for 3 weeks, would be ranked a lesser traveler as compared to someone, who is rushing through Europe, hitting 8 countries in 14 days, and actually seeing nothing else than capitals, stations and trains.

to me it is too subjective.

It would make it seem like too much of a competition in my opinion, and that's not what travelling is about. I agree with Herr Bert in that it would be too subjective.

I was rated 18th most traveled man on Charles Veley's website but I quit because it was phony so many lied about where they went, to get a better rating the travelers century club has a list of 321 places i have been to 295 of them check out their list of poltically correct places and if you can complete that list then you are really saying something

Ditto Herr Bert. Trying to "rank" travel is so subjective that it renders the so-called "results" meaningless.

Cheers,
Terry

I do agree that stats are a bit subjective, which is why there hasn't been a place for this. Also because it would probably lead to people creating fake trips which would quickly spoil the real fun.

But all that said, stuff like this is rather interesting to me, so I understand the desire.. To satisfy your curiousity, here's the top 3 on TP ordered by distance travelled:

- 3,526,043 km (this is no joke, I've been in touch with him before )
2,690,913 km
1,945,091 km

I'm not even in the top 100 on this list.. haha

Kellie's threatening to do a blog post with the top 10 now.

Forgive me in advance, but, I thought this site was about helping others, not bragging ???

Hi TeflonCDN, I think people just are interested to see how their travels compare to others. How you take it is up to you.. for me I'm just fascinated by people's huge travels. Half the fun in mapping everything out and getting the stats is being able to share it around. I guess it could be considered bragging, but then most of social media probably can be considered that way Either way, it's a popular pastime, as evidenced by threads like one. I see it more as harmless fun than anything else.

Who is the member of TP that has done quite a lot of travelling with never taking a flight? That is something I find really interesting (particularly as I hate flying!!).

You're thinking of (Rich)
