Hello
RVing is a nice way to see Canada, however, I think you need a more realistic picture of costs and distances. The RV season is usually from May to October. Many camp grounds will be closed during the winter season. In addition, RVing in the winter would require an insulated RV (4 season) with winter tires. RVing and winter don't mix.
Distance
The shortest route from Vancouver to Toronto (if staying in Canada) is about 4 500 km... This is about the same as London (UK) to Ekaterinenburg (Russia). Your are likely to have driven 5 000- 5 500 km once you add on interesting side trips like Banff.
Cost Estimate
Fixed
Your rental is about $50CDN/day. This is the basic rental fee. You will probably also be changed 30-35 cents per kilometer => .3 X 5000km = $1 500CDN. If you pickup in Vancouver and Drop Off in Toronto, you will have a 1-way fee of about $700-800CDN. The fuel cost will add up to another $1 000-1 200CDN.
Variable
If you have the RV for 14 days RV your cost would be about $1100 - $50/day for the RV + $30/day for camp ground fees.
Cost for 2 weeks in the RV, driving from Van to Toronto... Minimum of $4 300CDN. Food and entertainment is not included. RVing is a great way to travel but it is not cheap.
My advice, visit Vancouver + Okanogan Valley or Whistler for 1 week. Take train ride through the Rockies to Calgary (very scenic). Rent RV in Calgary and use it as a base to visit places in Alberta, e.g., Banff, Drumheller Badlands etc. Return to Calgary and Fly to Toronto for the last week of your vacation.
Benifits
This will save a ton of driving hours, the 1-way fee, km fees, and fuel cost but still have a grt RV experience in Alberta.
When people do some research for you they appreciate a little feedback...
