Good choice!
I actually would recommend you just to go without any companions, without any promise for "we will meet us there and there, at this and this time". You will find and get in touch with loads of people, hopefully with strangers and LOCALS.
Another thing is your route plan. 20 countries (counted without South America!) are waaay to much.

Thanks for advice, but I would prefer to go with someone - been to Thailand alone for couple of weeks a few months ago and it felt not that nice. I have a feeling that if I travel alone it just doesn't count if you know what I mean...
I will definitely short list the trip when I will find some company...
