Hey fellow travellers
I have been to Nepal and a donkey would be useful, although you would be wise to do some walking yourself.
But I think the mode of transport they use is a Yak. They can haul very large quantities of goods, and are breed for just that.
We walked from Lukla, up the Khumba Valley, via Namche Bazzaar, Denboche then up to Kala Panther and back.
Yaks, no problem, donkeys, I think I saw a couple. The thing is the air pressure difference. Ones that survive at 5000 m asl cannot survive at sea level.
I would take some caution though, as parts of the Sagarmatha National Park is protected and very mountainous.
It would also be wise to get in touch with a travel company. I will find out which one we used, tailor made for myself and 5 colleagues at work.
I'm driving to Mongolia next July from the UK.
Let me know how you get on.
Matt
Wow, a yak?
I didn't even think of going with a yak... how interessting... :D
But I think a donkey would be easier to handle... although there can be very stubborn...
New opportunities to think about
Have you checked out our latest adventure.... We are off to Mongolia next summer.
I wish you luck, not sure whether someone will let you have a donkey or Yak
without a guide though.
Goodluck though.
Haha this is actually a great idea! Thanks for posting, this is going right on my bucket list
Thanks for the help.
It doesn't leave my head and I really would love to do it. But I still have to think about it. I don't know yet...
