travel to Madagascar by boat, somebody any expercience? pleas

Hello guys!
my name is tom, a guy who went to Afrika without a plan.
I started in Ethiopia with only one goal, come in Madagascar (my dream destination!)
I want to go overseas, hitching on a boat, ship, cargo, working on a yacht, i really don't care
but i dont want to fly! some websites say you can find a boat in mombasa or zanzibar,..
here in zanzibar they say nope,.. not possible. only a few sad 20 years ago there was a ship.
So right now i need hopefully, your help
please

Hi,
Quite a while ago I did loads of research about it and most of the information is combined in the article here on TP.
As far as normal connections are concerned, it seems there are boats/ferries which take paying passengers from Mauritius or Réunion.
The only other options are indeed yachts, cargo ships etc, BUT you might try first to get to Mauritius or Reunion and see if there are more options of yachts etc to get you there in the first place and then onwards to Madagascar.
Just my 50 cents...
Have fun!
Michael.

Hey Tom

I visited Madagascar back in 2009 and back then I head talks about cargo ships from Mombasa (Kenya)... Whether this is still an option I don't know...

My LP also mentioned ports in South Africa... But that might be a long shot...

Otherwise should especially Reunion be a good place to hitch a ride with a yacht.. Met a couple of people who lived on Reunion and did that once in a while...

Cheers

Not by boat but through ship.My route was from Port Louis of Mauritius via Mozambique to Madagascar.
