Does anyone have any experience with these? I'm a solo-traveller, female, 23 - been in Aus since Feb, just working and getting some money to pay for my east coast trip In Juneish.
Hey peroni
I'm going to be in oz from may for 3 months. Also solo and was hoping to see more of the gold coast ( have been before but it was flooded!)
I have a freind who has worked for the oz experience kind of thing. The pros are obviously you meet more people, however it can be very structured and, depending on the company used, can be more ofna drinking fest as opposed tomseeing anything. I may do some research into the greyhound option, or even flying as pretty cheap and hostels arent hard to book- usually works out cheaper too as tours usually focused on turning a profit.
So i may do that, i reckon you can still meet people in hostels when doing it yourself!
you could also look for rideshare sites. i think gumtree has a section for that, this one seems good for finding people to travel with to get a group and rent a car or hitchhike. its easy for chicks and if you are with someone its not as scary
If you ever go to the USA I'd advise against using the Greyhound there, that can be quite an experience!
Just booked my Greyhound ticket! A couple of friends have recently returned from doing a greyhound trip up the coast and have said it was a brilliant service so fingers crossed! I'm heading off from Melbourne at the end of May - very excited! Now to get organised about what I need to see while I'm up there...
