First time overseas

This is my first time posting. What I would like to know if you were from Australia and never been outside of your own country and money or time were not an issue where would you send me. I am not a person who can lie on the beach all day, I need to be able to do tourist things. What are your suggests?

I'd start off with New Zealand, just because it's close by, has a very similar culture, speaks the same language, and is absolutely gorgeous. Go see the Southern Alps, Milford Sound, Lake Tekapo, Hobbiton. Travel around independently by bus for 3-4 weeks (which should give you a pretty decent overview of the country, while still allowing you to linger in places), stay in hostels; see how you like the experience.
If that type of travel style appeals, and you could keep up the full 3-4 weeks without feeling too lonely or bored or restless (none of which should be a concern, as it's always very easy to get to talking with fellow travellers in hostels, and your days should just be chockful of things to see and do), and your money is really that good, then head to Europe for as many months as you think you can stand, to soak up history. On the way back, head via either South America (Patagonia in December-March if you like hiking / nature, Peru in May-September if you prefer history / culture), or Thailand (way more 'exotic'; a country whose history has barely been touched by European influences, and so has shapes and color-combinations unlike anything you've seen).
