So I'm currently planning to arrive in Fiji on 7th January 2014 for two weeks.
I'd love to hear from anyone with similar dates as im going alone, but also any advice on what islands to visit - should I book something like awesome adventures and just go for a package deal? Are they any good as they seem quite expensive for such a short trip?
Yes, I think they are totally worth it!
I recently came across my Fiji paperwork from a few years ago (I did a 5 day package with Awesome Adventures in '08) and reading my costs again I was struck by how affordable it was. I also couldn't believe it was only five days because at the time I remember feeling like I was away for much much longer—clearly embraced Fiji time!
I don't know if the package still exists but I had transfers, meals, accommodation, and activities all covered. The only thing I had to worry about at the time was drinks, cultural items at an island market, maybe two meals, and a taxi on the day of departure. I still have my final Fijian dollars in my wallet because I couldn't find anything to spend them on!
Having discovered all of this again, I'm actually putting Fiji on my list of places to revisit. Check out all the different packages and levels of each package though and find the one that suits you. Enjoy!
