HELP - Thai Visa!!

Hi all,

Hey Laura,

For a UK national a 30 day visa is free if your flying in. If your using a boarder crossing I think it is 2 week visa. Also, if your using the Poipet boarder crossing, brace yourself for a 2-3 hour wait in line. It's horrible!!!

Entering overland with UK passport you now qualify for a free 30 day Visa Exemption even at border immigration points.

Recent change for G7 countries only. Usually Visa Exemption requires proof of onward travel out of Thailand or plane ticket home from Thailand.

Thanks for your help. So I'm safe for 30 days, does that mean I can't stay any longer?

It is a visa waiver and 30 days including day or arrival and day of departure as full days is all. You can leave Thailand, say a flight out in the morning and a flight back in the evening and get another 30 days. AirAsia (think Ryanair) and the like aren't too pricey if booked early.

If you have a few days to spare you could get a 60 day visa at a Thai embassy outside of Thailand, but that costs, as does a flight, so many opt for the latter.

Overstay days in Thailand costs 500 baht a day, and is actually a criminal offence if the police feel like it. Otherwise you pay at the airport on the way out.
