Bangkok protests!

Hi All,

Google it. A grenade thrown, shots fired at protestors, undercover cops beaten up, etc. Better to be anywhere else in Thailand than Bangkok at present.

Hi Karen,

Google it. A grenade thrown, shots fired at protestors, undercover cops beaten up, etc. Better to be anywhere else in Thailand than Bangkok at present.

What about the 90 percent of Bangkok that's not in the protest zone?

Yes those things are happening as they did in 2010, but the bottom line is this. If you stay out of the middle of it, nothing is going to happen to you.

Are you planning to get involved in the protests? If not I would say you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

The protest zone is much of the central area of Bangkok where most people, including tourists, go, It is not just the parliament any more. I saw the demonstrators at MBK, Asoke BTS station, at Victory monument, at Lad Prao which is a LONG way away, etc.

Also the other day I saw an awful lot of protestors in the Democracy Monument area, which is just around the corner from KSR, which is Backpacker Central in Bangkok.

FWIW -

I arrived yesterday and there are protests everywhere, but thus far it has been fairly easy to get around them, no big deal.

I'm being dragged to (yawn) KSR tonight to meet some people, the taxi drivers outside my hotel right now are happy to drive us, but "no promises" they say.

I'll report back later...

Cheers,
Terry

Couldn't get anywhere near KSR tonight...

Cheers,
Terry
