Vietnam Visa on Arrival - Cheapest/Best Service providers

czechow has indicated that this thread is about Vietnam

When I say done, my research, I meant to suggest that I am clued up as to how the process works, I just need a cheap provider to give me a letter of approval. Ta!

I do believe in Google search results. You can find the top 10 visa agencies listed in search results with your desired keywords. These are reliable Vietnam visa agencies who provide a good service. However, it is not likely that they are providing the cheapest service.

I just arrived in Hanoi a few days ago from Laos. I acquired the Visa from the Vietnamese Embassy in Luang Prabang and it was the best money I could have spent.

I was through Immigration instantly, there were only 2 officials servicing the loooong VOA line and when we ran into some of them later they said it took 2+ hours to finally be processed.

Hope you have better luck.

Cheers,
Terry

I'm not saying they're the cheapest, but I can vouch for as the very best. I've used them since 2008 for 5 trips. Unlike many others, my agency sends the Approval Letter as well as the Form on Arrival which saves you time at the Vietnamese airports.

(it takes longer at the HCMC airport - much more traffic means more visas)

Daawgon, why not simply get the Visa before you depart? Is it more expensive, or is it another issue like no easy access to an Embassy or having to send your Passport away?

By the way, I'm really digging Hanoi. First time here for me...

Terry,
It is cheaper for US citizens to use the VOA system. VN now charges $100 plus postage for a 1 month visa. I spent about $25 in postage when I used the San Francisco Consulate for one of my trips years ago. I also had the stress of mailing off my passport and waiting for them to return it. I got it back 4 days before my flight. That was stressful I can tell you.

I am envious that your are bumping around VN right now! Hope you have a great time. Did you contact while sightseeing! Fun way to see HAN. Mike

It's a working holiday Mike so I didn't need to try the Hanoi Kids (I have a Vietnamese local working with me) but I hear fantastic stuff about the organization.

Totally understand the stress/expense of sending away your Passport... our guesthouse in Luang Prabang charged us $75 USD each for 48 hour Visa service (myself and one other American.) We didn't lift a finger... the process was completely hassle free and our Passports were never more than a few kilometres from us.

As mentioned above when we hit Hanoi Airport the VOA line-up was bloody insane... we were already downtown, checked-in and finishing our third beer before some of our fellow travellers were finally processed...

Cheers,
Terry

Xiao Zhoumin thanks for your extremely helpful comment. I was merely hoping someone might have an underground visa service which was less than $20, such as the one given by Daawgon (thanks by the way - very helpful). You never know what firms google will throw up and whether they can be trusted.

Terry - from your advice, would I be better off finding a Vietnamese embassy in Thailand (where I will be before)? As far as I understand from your posts, it costs about $50 more but you don't have to wait 2+ hours waiting around?

Thanks

Andrew

Andrew, I don't know anything about the Visa situation, I only reiterated my personal firsthand experience from a few days ago in regards to an Canadian and an American entering Vietnam by air from Laos.

I'm sure Daawgon's link has all the info/costs you require for a VOA and the Vietnamese Embassy in the UK can tell you the same for securing the Visa before you depart from home, no?

Lastly, no clue what you mean by an "underground" Visa service, but paperwork to cross international borders isn't to be taken lightly...

Good luck and have fun, Vietnam is fabulous.

Cheers,
Terry
