I was in ireland last year with my friends..(dublin, and one day in galway).
I slept in the Spanish Arch Hotel, wich is on the most famous street i think (with the pubs and restaurants).
Don't worry, you're never alone in ireland. It's definitely the best place to meet people from everywhere, and i think if you are a little careful, it's gonna be ok !
I remember that i met some girls, who were alone, just to talk.
But of course, it could be more funny and easier to go with a group.

Galway is best done by car, as is the rest of Ireland.
Galway does get a fair bit of rain and that is the rainy season. June is better.
I would say it is as safe as anywhere is in the world today.
Accommodation should be no problem that time of year. Prices are fairly expensive. Try the accommodation link at the top of the page.
The Irish are friendly and Irish pubs are friendly so you should be OK for company.
The currency in southern Ireland is the euro.
Ireland is easy to travel around by car, same as in Australia or UK and you will find the people lovely. I am heading there again in late June for 3 weeks on my own and it is my 4th trip to Ireland. Never had any travel problems.

You will have a fantastic time in Galway. It is full of backpackers from all over the world, especially during the summer months, and you will be very safe there as long as you don't do anything you wouldn't normally do. I think it's a good rule for any solo female traveller not to walk alone at night anywhere in the world. Local Irish people are usually very friendly and willing to help, so just ask I would say Galway is probably the safest Irish city for a backpacker.
Galway is a bustling, vibrant city with lots of festivals and so much to do. It's the gateway to Connemara which is one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. It is possible to get around by public transport, but to see the really wild, out-of-the-way places, renting a car opens up a lot more of the countryside to you.
Check out the Kinlay Eyre Square Hostel. This is situated in the very centre of the city, close to everything and it has just won "Best Hostel in Ireland" and it's about €20 for a bed in a dorm.
You should definitely take a trip out to the Aran Islands while you are in Galway. This involves a ferry ride out to Inis Mor. You can read about it online, but most tourists are never disappointed with this trip. YOu can do it for a day, or overnight on Inis Mor, of if you have the time you can island-hop and make a few days out of it.
The pubs in Galway are great. Check out The Front Door, O'Neachtain's, The Living Room. Great restaurants too! It is quite normal for women in Ireland to go to a pub by themselves. Just be careful in the same way that you would be in Belgium. Use your common sense. Irish men are pretty friendly anyway, so they will probably speak to you if you are sitting by yourself at a bar. As long as you don't let yourself get too drunk, you won't be vulnerable and you will be able to figure out what is safe and what isn't. Most Irish men would actually watch out for your safety and want you to feel at ease here. Galway is full of tourists. My advice is get to know some of the people at your hostel and arrange to go out with them! I promise you, you will have a great time.
