please help!!! i'm doing a rush visa for brazil with an american passport! it's not a simple process and it has already cost me $479. i thought i was done but no...my flight is into nicaragua and out of bogota, and because i don't have an itinerary for entering brazil. (i'm backpacking...) i'm in limbo! does anyone know where online that i can book a bus ticket from any surrounding country into brazil? the cheaper the better, departure city and arrival city in brazil does not matter! i just need to show them confirmed travel plan into brazil! please help! thanks.
As you have found out, flights in South America are very expensive but the trouble is that distances being great, bus tickets often are too.
You could try a bus ticket with Los Lanos:

.
Travelling from Puerto La Cruz to Santa Elena de Uair.
Santa Elena is still in Venezuela but is on the border and people will often change buses there when travelling between Venezuela and Brazil. Tell them from there you are then going to buy a bus ticket to Manaus, a popular destination for Amazon trips. Being able to find these places on a map if asked would help.
I think the bus leaves 11:59am and arrives at 10pm at Santa Elena.
thank you!!! i will look into right now. i really appreciate it!

it's all looking very hopeless. i think i may have to book a flight that i may not use only to please the brazilian consulate. that's another $200 down the toilet...so sad...
