Hey all - Heading to Thailand from Jan 16 - Feb 6 and looking for quick tips on great things to see/do and places to stay. Any travel tips or travel hacks appreciated too.
Hello, we did a pretty similar route 2013 you can read my blog here:
http://gingertoad.travellerspoint.com/
It might give you some ideas. Getting around Thailand is cheap and easy don't worry about language barriers the routes are tried and tested. At times it feels chaotic but you have to remind yourself they do things differently here. There are systems in place but nothing as efficient as we are used to in the west. We felt safer traveling Thailand than we do in our home town Barcelona.
Have a great trip, if you need any info about the towns we visited drop me a line.
P.s pack some duct tape - it has a million uses and will come in handy.
I would plan to fly straight out of Bangkok, allowing enough time, when you get there as the protests are going on and on and causing trouble for tourists and locals alike.
Be aware that if you fly to elsewhere in Thailand, you will have to go via another airport (Don Mueang) some distance away from Suvarnabhumi airport. A shuttle bus will get you there but with a very slow immigration (expect one hour plus), etc you will need plenty of time.
Things to see and do, check out:

As to other travellers, a few hundred thousand other tourists while you're there.
