You only get charged about £3-4 to take money out of your English account and it's really easy to set up a bank account here. It took me about 5 days to get it all sorted so I'd advise doing that. Commonwealth is a good bank

Have you looked into a travel card, like a Travelex cash passport? I usually travel with one pre-loaded with the destination currency which can be used as a credit card or to withdraw cash, and then also have my usual credit card as backup.
