We will fly into Milan and fly out of Prague, then stop over for one day in Amsterdam.
I think that's a question only you can answer, you know your travel style.
Personally your present itinerary of 5 major cities in only two weeks is too much, adding a sixth city would be nuts - but that's just me, everyone travels differently.
Have fun.
Cheers,
Terry

What does everyone think? Should I squeeze Budapest into the route?
I think your route looks pretty good as it is, with two full days between travelling is ideal for a taster.
Adding Budapest gives you another day on the road & one less day in a city & you also have to decide how to fit Budapest in. Skip Saltzburg or not?
So - I would choose either Saltzburg or Budapest, but not both.
Budapest is more driving ( I am presuming you are going by road ), but Venice to Saltzburg it looks like you drive through the mountains & that would be the clincher for me. I just love mountain scenery.
I would save Budapest for another day.
Happy travels.

Thanks everyone for your insightful comments! I can see now how squeezing in Budapest would be troublesome.
Steve, we are actually planning on going by train between the cities, as i thought that would be both cheaper and faster. Is that a wrong assumption?

When I was looking at your route with Google Maps I did not see a train from Venice to Saltzburg. Maybe there is . probably tell us.

Yes - it's doable. Change at Innsbruck or Option 2, Venice to Salzburg by day trains on the late afternoon departure via Villach...
That sounds good too.

This site has more train advice & a do not know of a bus that does the trip. I was assuming you were driving by car, don't know why I assumed that as I mostly take a train myself.
Happy travels.

That's great! Thanks Steve that is really awesome of you!
I am planning on booking some places with airbnb.com and maybe splurge and stay at a hotel in Prague. Is that a sound plan? or is there any other option I can and should look into?
Oh, and does anyone know about the cellphone situation in Europe? Can I buy a pre-paid sim card that will give me coverage for the whole europe?

Hi,
Glad to be of help. The Man at Seat 61 has a built fantastic site, A real work of art.
There are lots of accommodation sites around but TP itself has one right to hand
They are just updating it a bit so give them some feedback
Sorry - cannot help with the cellphone bit but someone will know some thing. Try a search on the TP forum & see what pops up, or Google a question or two.
Happy travels.
