Hi, I recently arrived in Bondi from UK with 2 other male travelling companions and we are looking for a reasonably priced 3 bedroom apartment, preferably around the Bondi area for 6 to 9 months from mid December. Had a look at various rental sites including airbnb and gumtree but most rent by the day or week and real estate sites show mostly unfurnished properties. Wonder if anyone knows where else to look - are there local places to advertise?

Yeah, unfurnished and minimum 12 months lease is the norm in Australia when it comes to renting. If you definitely don't want unfurnished you could try serviced apartments like Quest. Alternatively, try the shared accommodation on flatmates.com.au or realestate.com.au and go crazy at IKEA! You can always sell it on Gumtree or eBay at the end.
And though it is not the same as having your own place, you could try something like that guarantees you won't have to buy any furniture.
