I know this question has probably been asked a million times before but I am going to ask based on what my travels are! Hopefully someone can suggest a bag to look at.
My advice is for you to go to a store that sells that equipment & try some on for size, feel, weight unloaded etc.. See if they will let you load them up with things. Ask the people ( Ooops - almost typed 'Guys' ) there for advise.
Go to several stores even.
You need something that is right for you and no amount of recommendations here will give you that.

Thanks hasbeen, I will be doing that shortly I was just wondering whether there's any that experienced travellers could recommend as being one they would use and a short review as to why.

Since you're a new traveller I'm going to bet that you'll use a tent for less than 3% of your travels.
Really think this through, Carl... if you're travelling with a tent, sleeping bag & sleeping matt, etc. then that's a completely different deal and a completely different backpack than 99% of first time backpackers on a RTW trip.
Are you sure about the tent and all the other stuff that comes along with it?

Hi Terry, the reason I was going to take the tent is because I'm going Tomorrowland in Belgium and will need it there. I was hoping a tent and a small sleeping bag will suffice just incase of emergencies to. I don't think I want to be searching in a foreign country for a tent to also pay high prices.
Would you advise ditching it then given my circumstances to? Thanks.
It makes no sense to use a tent for a few days at a music festival in Belgium, then carrying it -- and other camping gear -- for a year in case of emergencies. Pitching a tent in some of the countries you plan to visit is impractical; and poses serious safety and health concerns. Take it from someone who has traveled to nearly 130 countries; and been to some remote places.

Hi berner, thanks for your reply. It was for in case of emergencies to be honest. I obviously wouldn't pitch it in a random place I do not know but I take on board what you say. Think I'm going to have to think how to do it.

For me, its an extra LED flashlight, for fear of losing one (which happened). But it's usually not necessary. The notable exception: prescription drugs. Carry enough to last the duration of your trip. In the past, I used to carry a collapsible cup for brushing teeth. But cupping water in my hands from the faucet eliminated the need for that. The more you travel, the more you realize that excess baggage can really weigh you down, in many ways.

Thanks for the tip, I think I will be ok with packging my rucksack, it's just the first parts of my travels are to Ibiza and Tomorrowland so I think I may need an additional bag and just leave it there once I'm done!

That's exactly what I assumed.
If you bring the tent/camping gear for the whole trip you'll grow to despise the extra weight/bulk and you'll hate the big hiking backpack that you were forced to purchase.
If it makes you happy absolutely bring the tent and camping gear to Tomorrowland, then when the festival is done ship all that gear home and continue your trip with a proper travel backpack that you will grow to love.
