Shanghai China, January

avvylee has indicated that this thread is about Shanghai Pudong International Airport

We were there in July and stayed in . It's not a hostel and in fact we were upgraded to a suite but we managed to get a deal on it on Expedia or Booking.com and it worked out at about NZD70 per night. Not dirt cheap but a great price for somewhere so close to the Bund and all the action. We couldn't find a decent hostel anywhere near there. And the views across the city were fabulous.

Hi! I usually stay with friends when I go to Shanghai, but from what I've seen and heard most hostels are quite central. Shanghai isn't as big as other cities so getting around between main attractions shouldn't be a problem.

Hi,

You could have a look at TravellersPoint Travel guide. And then move on to their Accommodation section - use the map there to see where the hotels are clustered.
Hotelscombined is my preferred site to research accommodation.

Would you suggest shanghai in china or is there any better city in china to go to?

Hi hasbeen, yes im checking on it. But sometimes i consider more comments from people directly, i hope you understand what i mean. I love to hear feedbacks from people who give comments to your post cause sometimes those who were already posted on some sites are inaccurate (sometimes) but thanks for reminding me about the travellerspoint accommodation section, i appreciate it,

Hi,

About 100 KM due east from Shanghai is Suzhou. I had a very nice tour of the the Gardens & Canals there from Shanghai. It might be worth a few days there. One day was not enough for me.

In Shanghai, If you can afford it, take the ferries that cross the river. 1RM for the cheap ones & 2RM for the expensive.

You can see some photos & read about my take on Suzhou & Shanghai ( & Beijing, Xian & the Wall if you like ) on my TP Blogo.

Cannot help with accommodation in either place as I was on a cruise, where the hotel room traveled with me.

We had two nights but only one full day in Shanghai having toured from Beijing, Xi'an, Chengdu, a boat down the Yangtse to Yichang and then the bullet train to Shanghai. We wandered about the Bund and across the river and up a couple of the giant skyscrapers there.

No plans to go back in January - we'll be in Central America then!
