I have a grandson who is a gamer and that is his whole life .no social life no friends .So I thought what if I could organize a group tour of the USA that was gamer themed.The problem is I have no idea where to start .I have looked at a few attractions I think that would be appropriate. I wondered if Airlines and Hotels give group bookings a discount .I also need to let people know about it so I can get others involved. once I have all things for the trip organized.I would also like to have nights when American kids? could meet with the Australian Kids? (grandson is 18 ) to play games .So please any help information or just general advice most welcome. Lesleigh
I suspect he very much has a social life, but it's all happening online where you don't see it. Ask him if he's in a guild. He almost certainly has friends all over the USA, and probably all over the world. The distances are just preventing them from hanging out in real life.
I suspect that a "tour" with people he doesn't know would be the worst possible thing you could organize for him. Instead, see what would be involved in getting a significant part of his guildies (who he knows already, has shared history with, and so really wants to hang out with) together at one central location. (That location could be near one of the attractions you have looked at.) Let them just hang out and explore the city on their own; don't drag them around! (Also, depending on the guild, the age range of his guildies could be very broad indeed; don't be surprised at 15 to mid-40s, even if probably most will be in their late teens and early twenties.)
Consider picking a central location near one of the smaller gamer- and/or geek-culture related conventions, at a time appropriate for also attending that. (Or just give in and make that con the central thing you're getting them all together for.) Not something massive like E3, nor probably DragonCon (though that last one might almost be good, and other than for size be very cool for its broad range of topics), but a regional one - still with interesting demos and guests, but just slightly easier to get to know people and integrate in the culture. You probably have no idea what I'm talking about here, but .

Thank You Sander ,I will definitely take your advice on board .I am something of a gamer myself ,so i know about groups and clans I also know he has friends online.,but am trying to get him out of his room and into the world and mixing with 3D people. , I do like your idea of including a convention .
