Work and travelling around Australia

Hi,

Hey Kimberly. I would head up North first of o were you. October can be a bit cold in the south, there's a bus pass with greyhound you can get from Brisbane to cairns which is probably your cheapest option. It's hop on and hop off and goes all up the Coast. The buses are quite nice and sometimes have wifi. You'll probably meet a lot of other travellers as well The pass is a fixed price so you can get it before you leave or when you get there. Or can you fly straight to cairns and work your way down the coast, there's a cairns to Melbourne pass as well. Hope this was helpful

Hello Noboomboom,

Thank you this has been very useful, is there a link or website to price up the hop on passes to check out, wondering if it's cheaper to get before or when I arrive.
Is Accomodation easy to come by or are the passes worth getting?
As I've booked most of my trip through STA travel, so working out my best options.

Thanks
Kimberley

Hey Kimberly, you can book it through sta in any country including Australia, the price will be the same. It doesn't take long to set up. I would recommend doing it with an agent just so you have someone to talk to if you need help but here's the website with the prices
http://www.greyhound.com.au/passes/hop-on-hop-off

Accommodation is easy to come by yes. im not sure what passes you've been looking into, but the average price of hostels in aus is about $30aud a night.

Around November December time hostels start booking up, but you'll be fine leaving it until nearer the time to prebook.

If you're there for Xmas and nye try and book that as early as possible.

Hey Kimberley, I'm using the Oz Experience bus which I booked through STA to travel from Cairns to Sydney between the 14th November and 24th December. Other than that my plans are all up in the air! If you're around whilst I'm there it would be cool to meet up (Solo traveller for the first time).
