Trip feedback? Thailand

Hi
Any advice on what to do in our different locations would be fab!

Take the time to read over some of the many posts on this forum. Some valuable advice there. If you only have a smart phone for research it might be worthwhile to switch to something with a larger screen like a laptop.

You must plan a budget out and determine how much money per day you have available for hotels. This is after buying your round trip plane tickets to (usually) Bangkok. Know what your visa requirements are. Depends on the passport you use to enter Thailand.

Get the basics down first.

You will need a hotel to head for for the first night and however long you intend to visit that area. You will need to know how to change your currency to Thai baht. For most Western currencies you get a better return changing in Thailand. (Bank run money changers available in many areas popular with tourists. Even at the airport you have bank currency exchanges available 24 hours a day. Rates are not fixed and can change daily.)

Take the time to read up on scams in Thailand. Simple Google checks can be helpful too for immediate help with "how to get from point A to point B type questions." But always verify the accuracy of your information. It may be old fashioned but a simple travel guide can be helpful too.

Not everyone does the same thing in various cities. Some people are content to walk around, take a few tours, hit some pubs and beer bars and head back to the hotel. Others want to either shop all day or party all night.

Some posts have hotel recommendations for various cities. If you ask for hotel help include a price range per night in Thai baht.

Always good to look at a map of Thailand and see the distances involved between various cities. Google search can help you with transportation questions. (Bangkok has 2 airports if you are scheduling flights. Suvarnabhumi is the larger and newer airport, Don Muang is the second airport. They are not that close together if scheduling connecting flights.

Bangkok can be cheaper than many beach locations. (Good city transportation, buses, city rail service and meter taxis that must use the meter. Tuk-tuks usually work off a flat rate and you will probably pay more than a meter taxi when using the meter. Paying a flat rate in a meter taxi means you pay more.)

Shots - see your doctor. Check expiration dates for any passports, credit or debit cards too. Leave valuable jewelry back home. Use security boxes in hotels. If something comes up missing from your hotel room suspect any guests you allow into the room first, even traveling companions. If strangers come to your hotel room keep wallet, passport, computer, cell phone, jewelry out of sight.

(Make Google your friend!)

Good luck.
