Places to visit in San Diego beside beach.

Hi,

Isn't there a zoo in San Diego?

Welcome to San Diego, Maddie. I too live in San Diego. Finding places to visit in San Diego is easy because this is a tourist town. Of course the beaches are fun, but there is so much more in San Diego. Try the San Diego Zoo (was known to be the largest in the world). Also associated with the San Diego Zoo is the Wild Animal Park. This is different from the zoo with physical activities available. We also have Sea World which can be fun.

Visit San Diego Old Town filled with fun shops and restaurants with the old Spanish influence from the past. Seaport Village is fun. In December, the harbor has the Parade of Lights which is many boats in the harbor decorated with Christmas lights and parading down the harbor. Seaport Village is the best location to view this. Travel around on the trolley to visit different areas including to the Mexican border, if you wish to visit our southern neighbors.

Tour the Midway (a retired navy ship) docked at the harbor. The Gaslamp district is an area downtown that is a great attraction area with many great restaurants.

If you like sports, we have the San Diego Padres for baseball and the San Diego Chargers for football; however, there is rumors that the Chargers may move away after this year, so if you are interested, you might want to catch them this year.

In the northern county, there is Legoland. This theme park is geared towards children, so as an adults only, it may not appeal. However, if you have visitors with children, they will love it.

You can visit the mountains of Mount Laguna and Cuyamaca which is only a short drive away. Check out the town of Julian and try their apple pies. The desert is also a great place to visit which is a drive of less than 2 hours. The desert can offer a lot to see.

If you wish to go north for a few hours, there are other places of interest. Try driving up there and staying a few days. You have Disneyland and California Adventure Park which is right next to Disneyland. There is also in the same area, Knott's Berry Farm.

This is just a sample of San Diego. If you want to know more, just let me know. I will be glad to help.

There's Sea World , The San Diego Zoo,how about a side trip to Tijuana or Ensenada Mexico about an hour away (border formalities not included) Disneyland is about a good hour away, Knotts Berry Farm is a little further.
