We have been driving from SF down to Panama. We thought we would go with the car to Brazil, but decided we would rather backpack due to changing timetables, and circumstances. We are looking to sell it in Costa Rica or Panama if possible.
Hey! I just read your thread. Have you made the trip? If so, how was it?! Sounds amazing! What was it like driving across the border? What was your route?
Also, if you haven't done it, when are you planning to do it? I'll be with some friends in Central America, leaving for the US in late may/early june. Are you looking to sell the car or have it driven back?

Our 1990 Toyota 4 Runner (Hercules)
It has only 12,000 miles on a completely new engine by the Toyota Dealership in San Francisco, in the last 6 months all of the following have been replaced brakes, distributor, belts, battery, efr sensor, stabalizors, gas filter, air filter, transmission fluid, oil changes done on time.
4 Door
Spare tire on the back (brand new)
Automatic/Gas
Replaced (new) engine, many new parts
CD/MP3 player/Aux MP3 player hook up
Automatic locks, windowsOptional new car parts/Fluids (spares we never used), fire extinguisher, tow rope, triangle, and hitch)
It does have California plates and we can transfer the title, from here, if you want to sell it back there, no problem.
If it's someone going north we'd be more than happy to give you our maps, and have a lot of useful things for other travelers, you might be interested in such as cooking supplies ect.

I know it has been a while since you posted about selling your car in Panama. I was just wondering what steps it took to sell/buy it? I am a U.S. citizen and I want to buy car from the States in Panama and drive it back to the States... Do you think it would be a pain to register it and do the boarder crossings with just the title. I m worried about the registrtion part since the car and I are not in the States to do it... Do you have any suggestions or tips
