How long are you staying and what do you consider a reasonable price?
The further out into the suburbs you get the cheaper the prices for accommodation will become.
I am looking to stay for to weeks starting 18th May and paying around $2000.

My wife and 16 month daughter will be heading to New York soon and would love to know if anyone can recommend somewhere that is reasonabley priced and smalll family friendly to stay. Two bedrooms would be preferable.

I Usually stay at the Chelsea Hotel when i stay in NYC for a few days, they usually charge about $179 per night.its an old hotel where a lot of famous movie stars and writers have stayed,art works abound on the walls,the rooms are clean but dated,some love the place others not so much, very nicely located in Manhattan with subway stops on either end of the block, give em a call to see if they can give you a better price for 2 weeks.
Then there are a plethora of youth hostels that range from $20-$40 a night.
