Anti-malarial meds for Golden Triangle area of India?

SirVerity has indicated that this thread is about India

I'm going to that part of India in December and from what I've read they are not needed for that part of the country. I found fitfortravel.nhs.uk really useful as it has up to date maps of malarial areas.

In my oppinion defenetly NOT! I lived 2.5 years in India and I would never recomend malaria medicine, it just maks people sik ... I meet people who have taken such stuff, they mostly feel week and did not enjoy there vacation as the medicine is very strong. India has a working hospital network for the worse case which I am pritty sure you will not end up and if, this will be more likly because of food poissening ;o)

No worries my friend ... enjoy incredible India :D

Thank you very much. I was suspecting that the cure might be worse than the illness

Malaria can be very nasty ... depence which kind you get. Its like a very strong flu, some are deadly ... but most are a 10-14 day's hig fewer story with all the nasty side efects of a flu. The really bad thing about malaria is that after you get it and you went trough it it can suddenly come back to you any time again in your life and that's really not cool!
Still for all I know about India I would not recomend the medicin as it is more harm to your body than any good by the little risk to get malaria in touristy Rajastan.
