I am thinking of going to Brazil for a while, and want some advice on airports: both Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro list two airports. I've done some scratching around on the web, but cannot find anything substantive that says this airport is better for domestic flights, that airport has a tram to downtown, that kind of thing. Anyone with advice on airports at Sao Paulo and Rio?
Thanks!
Hi!
In Sao Paulo - Guarulhos (GRU) is the international airport, from where you can take a bus to downtown or to a station close to it and also to Congonhas (CGH) airport. From GRU airport, there are also some flights to many parts of Brazil, mainly the northeast region. They can help you at the information desk. Congonhas (CGH) airport is for domestic flights and is close to downtown.
In Rio de Janeiro - Tom Jobin / Galeão (GIG) is the international airport. There are buses to many parts of the city, including the bus station and the domestic airport Santos Dumont (SDU), that is located in the city centre. Santos Dumont airport is for domestic flights and there is a bus service to many parts of the city.
I hope I have helped. Any other doubt, give me a shout, ok? If I cannot help, I can find someone who can.
Take care and good travel!
Thank you very much, Deniscf. That's exactly what I wanted to know.
