90 Day US Trip with Wife and kids aged 14 and 3.

You won't have a problem with that amount of money. I'd probably use a car and stay in motels/hotels which you can find for $30-75 a night most of the way at least on the east coast. I've done that road trip a number of times, including just 2 months ago - so I can offer some specific suggestions.

For the most part I'd stay outside of the center of town in most of the cities and drive in. You'll save a fortune in hotel fees.

With the cost of gas and the cost for parking with an RV you'll probably end up spending a little less by car.

Feel free to mail me if you want specific thoughts.

Good luck finding a room for $30. in NYC!!! I was there in October and the cheapest I found was Brooklyn for $143. in a basement room.

Hell no you won't find a $30 room in NYC. You can find rooms just outside the city for $65 and in the city for about $100 but you do have to look hard for those.

But down in Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas and Virginia, you can find rooms from $30 - $70. The lower end tends to be quite rough, but for $50 up you can find some nice places if you don't insist on being in the heart of area attractions.
