I'm currently living in HCMC and have been to Mui Ne, but not to Da lat, although I hope to visit soon! Booking a bus from Mui Ne to HCMC, I simply stopped at one of the many tourist services along the main road. I can't remember the exact one I used, but for $12 USD I was on a very comfortable sleeper with my own blanket. The gentleman that helped me at the agency was very nice and spoke good English. The bus picked me up at my hotel and on time, so be ready.
As far as accommodation, I'd suggest you stay closer to where the action is around the windsurfing crowd. We ended up staying farther up the beach where it was very quiet. It ended up being ok because we were with a big group, and managed to "entertain" ourselves.

I've been both to Mui Ne and Da Lat. I've been using The Sinh Tourist for transportation and also local tours. Overall I've been satisfied with their services. I had been disappointed about some points, but that wasn't about their open tour bus. Their open tour bus is reliable, comfortable, safe, with a reasonable price. If you already have a fix itinerary, you can book these buses online. They will send you a receipt. Bring the print out with you and show it to their agent once you arrive.
Sai Gon - Da Lat
. The bus leaves at 8:00 AM and cost 8:37 USD. Base on my experience, The Sinh Tourist usually won't pick up guests in Sai Gon. We have to come to their office. But there's no harm to ask. Just try. Who knows. When I took their bus from Sai Gon to Mui Ne, I looked for a hotel close to their office, so I just needed to walk to their office. You can find out the addresses of their offices in each city on , in case you'd like to book a hotel near their place.
Da Lat --> Mui Ne
. The bus leaves at 7:30 AM and cost 5.35 USD.
When I took their bus from Da Lat to Sai Gon (Ho Chi Minh City), I could ask for a pick up at my hotel free of charge. Maybe because Da Lat is not as big as Sai Gon, so it doesn't take much time to fetch guests. They picked me and other tourists up with a van and transported us to their office in Da Lat. From there we go on the bus.
Mui Ne - Sai Gon
There are several choices. . The bus leaves at 9:00 AM and 1:30 PM. The one that leaves on Sunday cost 6.98 USD and the one on regular days cost 5:58 USD. I took The Sinh Tourist's open tour bus for Sai Gon - Mui Ne, but not the other way round. So I don't know whether you can ask for a pick up. Just ask. I always do. There's nothing to loose, right?
Hotel in Mui Ne
I don't know about the hotel you mentioned. In Mui Ne I stayed at . If your aim is "backpacker", don't let the word "resort" scare you. Check out their price first. You also can rent a tent, if you wish. It would save even more budget.
The Sinh Tourist also offers accommodation. But so far I've never booked a hotel from The Sinh Tourist. So I can't say (or recommend) anything.
Wow.... my effort of writing a long explanation has been removed! Is it because I mentioned the name of the travel agent and the hotel?? If so, what kind of help is to be expected? Something like: It's over there, turn to the left, go straight, and find it yourself?

Truly speaking, I don't see any point of helping sincerely, if just a post such as the one I had made to this reply, needs to be removed.
automidori: That was indeed too overenthusiastic a deletion. I remember looking at your post last night and being at the point of reporting it, but then looking at your profile and seeing you've been active on the site for the last two years, and deciding not to. Unfortunately it looks like someone else didn't take that second step. :/
Us moderators do have dozens of real spam posts a day to deal with (especially here in the Asia forum it's been really bad lately), and so the habit can build of seeing someone who's never posted before and included a link, and to just conclude that the link is promotional and get rid off it. Unfortunately your post was the exception that proves the rule, and I really wish it would've been caught. :/ (It's also unusual that the entire post was deleted, rather than just the link snipped.)
Don't know what to say beyond that, except "sorry" on behalf of us moderators. I hope that despite this, you'll continue posting. If you've participated in the forum before, that should definitely serve to make people take a second look before deciding to report or delete something.

I mentioned about that already in my previous 2nd paragraph. You didn't give any comment about that. Overlooked... again?? She has a better profile than mine?

I suspect (don't know for certain) that someone flagged your post for attention by a moderator. (All 200+ "respected members" and "travel gurus" can do this. (These titles basically indicate people who've been contributing to the site and posting regularly on the forum or in the wiki for a long time.)) I don't know why they would've flagged your post, but not the original one - could've been just that the original post was a day old when this person saw it, and so presumably cleared already. Either way, the flagging action would make your post show up on a special screen for us moderators, from which we can quickly deal with all posts which are currently flagged for our attention. I again suspect that the moderator in question was at the time dealing with a large influx of flagged messages, most of which would've been obvious spam, and so the moderator in question would've deleted your post along with all others, without having done the necessary checking into context. If this was the way it happened, then that moderator wouldn't even have seen the original post with its URL.
But either way, both the original post here with its URL, and your post, should've been fine as they were. Being from new posters, without a history of non-promotional posts, they would both be likely to attract suspicion, but your other activity on the site (again for both of you) should've meant that they would both be allowed. That in case of the original post this happened, but in your case this didn't happen was an error in judgment from both the (presumed) person who flagged your post, and from the moderator who deleted your post.
I understand that this is not a very satisfactory answer. "False positives" are one of the worst kind of failures when dealing with spam, and if (as seems likely to me) this was caused by someone not paying enough attention, then that doesn't really inspire confidence.
Again, I can't do more than say "sorry" on behalf of the system. In the end, this is the system that the people who run this site have set up, and the rare avoidable mistake such as the one that caused your post to be deleted is a consequence of the "zero-tolerance for promotional posts" policy is deemed to be an acceptable consequence. Overall, it does do a lot of good for the usefulness of the forum, and over the years of seeing the volume of attempted spam increase and increase, I've slowly moved from grudgingly accepting that policy to thinking it's the only thing that keeps the forum useful. But I do understand that it sounds harsh to you.
I suggest we leave the discussion of why your post was deleted here, and let other people answer the original question by Cassandra. If you want to discuss the deletion more, please feel free to PM me directly, to open a public discussion thread in the forum (particularly if you want to put the policy of how we deal with suspected spam up for discussion), or to contact the admins of the site, or . (I've also contacted the moderators who could've been responsible for deleting your post, in case they have anything more to say.)

Take a look at We went from HCM to DaLat, on to Nha Trang and I took the bus the Mui Ne, then back to HCMC. My friends took the overnight bus from NT to HCMC. There are 2 open tour bus companies I would recommend. is the largest, Tam Hanh is good as well. Phuong Tran is across from Sinh Cafe on De Tham St. Gets good reviews as well. I would walk into their office and get quotes. Sinh Cafe is almost too popular. Just hoards of people taking a bus to somewhre. Go across De Tham and get a Phuong Tran quote. Check price, schedule and what size bus they use. Then decide. Good luck with your planning.

Thanks for reposting my first post [that has been deleted] as an answer to Cassandra's request. I appreciate and respect your gentleness. I also accept your apology.
Hopefully, the effort I've made (detailing the information per destination based on Cassandra's planned itinerary) would be useful for Cassandra, and anybody else who might have a similar plan as Cassandra.
