Hi guys!
We trying to organise a north america holiday, but cant decide wether to rent a car and drive, or just visit the major cities using interstate flights!
I say drive. Remember that whichever you choose, you'll still need ground transportation in most of those cities except for NYC. If you've never driven in the LA area, I would suggest starting the trip in Vegas (you might have a heart attack in all that LA traffic - at least with Vegas you'd get a chance to adjust to it all). When are you doing this - hope it's not mid-summer?
Thanks for the reply!
Actually we had thought of doing it june...? bad choice? Too hot?
Its end of uni you see, before work and before we settle down and buy houses etc,
driving and dodging people shouldnt be an issue, (driven in spain they are nutters aha) just i presume the queues could be so intense in LA!
I think you will see much more driving a rental car. It is easy to see our National Parks via car, not so easy without. Fly to LA, rent a car. Over to Death Valley, up to Sequoia NP, Yosemite NP, San Francisco. Over to Reno, down to Vegas. Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Arches, Monument Valley, Antelope Canyon, Grand Canyon, Route 66, back to LA. Fly to NYC, home. That is one option.
June is going to be hot, but not crushing heat like July/August. Kids will also out of school, so most motels/parks will be crowded. Good luck with your planning.
