Wake Up Hostel Sydney?

I'm landing in Sydney on 17th of May, and im planning on booking into the WakeUp hostel - I'm just wondering if anyone will be there around that time - or anyone who has stayed their previously?

G'day, I've stayed there once... It's not a bad hostel, there are a couple of others, Hosteling International (YHA) and Base which are ok also. If your not sure how you'll go in a mixed room book a female only room. Otherwise mixed rooms are generally ok. Check out -snip- for some tips on staying in Hostels.

Hey Grace!
I stayed at Wake Up for 10 nights and I can honestly say out of all the hostels i've stayed in in Sydney it was my favourite!
I stayed in an 8 bed mixed room - I guess I was kind of lucky because I had amazing room mates, we all went out together loads and got on so well! If you are going to go for an all girls dorm I personally would go for a larger one like an 8 bed.
Wake up is really friendly, you'll meet tonnes of people, its clean and is in the perfect location to start your trip in Sydney. I would highly recommend it for people first arriving in Oz! The only downside is that it is quite expensive, so it all depends on how much money you are budgeting for accommodation. I have also stayed in the YHA Central next door which was also one of the nicer ones, but for me it is more like a hotel and i just found it easier to meet people at Wake Up. If you stay there make sure you go to SideBar & Scubar, I had some of the best nights there in the early days of my travels!

Most importantly ENJOY!! You will have an awesome time and you'll meet loads of new friends!

i didn't like because a room for 6 had enough room for 3. i am 5'1" and i cant see my face in the god damn bathroom mirror. the stupid locker is 'L' or "7" shaped and wont fit much. it is huuuuuuuugggggge... like insanely huge. I like hostels that are not massive. YHA next door is cheaper and has a better kitchen and pool on the roof. 790 on George (next to YHA) is even cheaper and there are 6 beds in a room that could fit 10 easily. basically way more room, for your $

^ not the experience I had.

^ also not true.

Actually, the YHA next door has more beds than Wake Up. It's also not cheaper.

They're both great hostels in my opinion, but of course smaller hostels can have a much better vibe. Both of these big ones are quite nice for those arriving for the first time in Sydney IMO.

Hi!
I'm planning on going to Sydney in May and staying at Wake Up also. Personally I'm going to go for a female only dorm just because I'm use to staying with girls and I think it kinda gives a bit of added security (not to necessarily say that girls are any safer than guys or whatever but I just feel more comfortable I guess!). It has really good reviews and from what I can see seems to be pretty decent for the single traveller who wants to meet people which is what I'm keen on. Also, I've read that it's pretty clean which is one of the most important things for me too.
