I want to alert my existing and potential new subscribers to my new blog and have given them all the link the travellerspoint system creates in the invitation email from the Spread the Word page.

What is the link you are trying to send? The link included in the email seems to be right, although it has an extra full-stop at the end which could confuse the mail client.
The link you need to send your potential new subscribers though is this one: http://alistairinthailand3.travellerspoint.com/subscribe/
I'm going to remove that extra full stop now, because I think that's what messed it up for you. Let me know if that doesn't seem right.

You've also removed the forward slash at the end there
