I like your planned itinerary - Hanoi is a great starting point, and going from N. Laos to N. Thailand also makes a great deal of sense. I would give Vietnam a minimum of 3 weeks, and at least 10 or 12 days in both Cambodia and Laos. Thailand is pretty big too, and to see it all, I would think another 3 weeks at least. I would worry more about heat than rain, personally. Seems to me that a little rain would be welcomed that time of year. As to overland travel, it really depends on you, and how comfortable you are in those buses. (I'm one of those who likes to fly)

Thank you for your kind advise! I will have to do more research for now especially so since I will be doing this trip myself. Are there anything else that I will have to look out for in that region?
I am taking a similar route from June - October & it is possible to get a coach from Cambodia to Laos.It costs around $40.Here is the coach company name : Phnom Penh Sorya Transportation
