Wow, were do you start with a list of Asia's best beaches. Here's the Asian beaches I've been to as close as I can in order of preference. Some are actual beaches, but some are whole islands because I can't really narrow it down to a single beach.
Palolem, Goa, India
Varkala, Kerala, India
Koh Lanta, Thailand
Koh Tao, Thailand
Bantayan, Philippines
Mirissa, Sri Lanka
Hoi An, Vietnam (though I was there years ago and there was zero tourism, I suspect it's changed)
Arambol, Goa, India
Perhentian Islands, Malaysia
Krabi, Thailand
Koh Phagnan, Thailand
Nha Trang, Vietnam
Malapascua, Philippines
Sihanoukville, Cambodia
Mamallapurm, Tamil Nadu, India
Unawatuna, Sri Lanka
Koh Phi Phi, Thailand
Kovalam, Kerala, India
Koh Samet, Thailand
Koh Samui, Thailand
Phuket, Thailand
Baga & Calangute, Goa, India
Though I wouldn't exactly list them as top beach destinations, I've spent a lot of time on beaches throughout Japan and Hong Kong. Some of them I've really enjoyed.

Malaysia is a really great country in general, and the Perhentian islands are the most beautiful I saw around SE Asia. And the beaches of Maldives are also very beautiful and pretty you can also have look on them.
Wellcome to Nha Trang, where have the most beautiful beach in Vietnam. Beside, it has many high standard resorts here, aslo, it is the scuba diving center of Vietnam.

Nha Trang is certainly a nice beach and has great diving, but it is just too crowded to be on any quiet, secluded list of SEA beaches.
Imo the best islands are
Koh chang-Thailand. Nice chilled out backpacker scene at lonely beach,lively and busy enough without being anywhere near as overcrowded as some of the islands in the south
Koh Ron-Cambodia. 3 hours from the coast,3 small 'resorts' consisting of about a dozen beach huts and a restaurant/bar each,reall heaven on earth,good snorkelling too.
Gilli Islands-Indonesia. Probably my favourite group of islands,great nightlife on Gilli t,really laid back and isolated on Gilli air and meno,brilliant snorkelling,brilliant food and relatively cheap!
Railay beach-Thailand.Altough its not an island it feels like it with cliffs surrounding it and making it inaccesable other than by boat,probably the most picturesque spot of the lot!

Nope, it depends, somewhere are crowed, but some are not.
