Hi I need help fast,
Buses aren't too bad. I've taken the trip to southern island (including Koh Tao) about 20 times, and I've never had a problem. Don't expect the best night's sleep, and don't expect to actually arrive at the time they advertise, but I've never had a bad experience on a Kao San Road bus. Watch your belongings, I've heard of stories of people going through bags at night.
I prefer to take a bus if you have time. don't worry , not all bus drivers are bad ^^
but it will take 7 hours from Bkk to Chumphon,
and then 2 hours from Chumphon to Koh Tao (by boat.)
Have a good trip.
hey, ive just arrived in Chumphon from Bangkok after a rather nice train ride in 2nd class, i will get a ferry from here to one of the islands tomorow. online it stated all trains were fully booked but that is because the online booking agents only have a certain amount of allications. just turn up at the train station and you will defo get a seat/bed. personally i wouldnt bother with a flight there are about 4 trains a day. good luck
