First time traveler

Hey people! So I'm heading to Australia on my year working holiday visa as soon as I graduate this year which will be mid May! It's my first time travelling and I've decided to go it alone.
Not too sure on where to fly to though? I've heard the best things about Melbourne but I've also heard this isn't exactly the best time of year to head South?

I love Melbourne, but its true that by mid-May they will be heading into winter. I found the winter there reasonably mild though (I'm from the bottom of the NZ), yes it rains etc but the temps don't get extremely low. If you wanted to head for the sun though, go further north - QLD probably. If you do head to Melbourne I can recommend Greenhouse Backpackers. The location is good, and they offer free or really cheap meals/activities of some sort every day of the week - pancake breakfast Sundays, walking tours on Mondays, a pub crawl for a few $ etc. Its a very short walk to Flinders St station and Federation square, so I found it really well located for getting around. I spent a few months in Melbourne so if you have any specific questions just let me know! I can also help with Sydney, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast so feel free to PM me

Awesome, cheers! Yeah I'm really looking for the sunshine haha so I'll probably look into Queensland and then head south along the cost for the year. Just gotta make sure it all matches up with thge harvest seasons because I'm most likely gonna go for the 2nd visa straight after

I arrive in Melbourne 3rd May and I'm planning to work there for a bit before moving on. Let me know if you decide on Melbs! xx

Will do sarah! you already in australia or coming from somewhere else?

I won't be in Australia until May, I live in Hertfordshire so I'm flying from Heathrow x

Well that's a coincidence, I'm actually studying at the University of Hertfordshire right now! haha

Ah no way! You must be living in Hatfield then?? I'm about 15-20 mins down the road so not far from there at all! xx

Nope, I'm actually living with my parents in Luton as I can't afford accomodation this year :P had to save my money for this! I'm not coming over until like end of May/Very early June now though due to exams will deffinitely give you a shout if I do decide on Melbourne though!
