I'm going to bangkok 1st may to 5th may.. places where to go?
hello grace,
I could recommend a few.
For shopping you could head to the famous Platinum Fashion Mall and Chatuchak weekend market. Is very popular among tourists. Recently they just opened a new night market called the Asiatique riverfront. I never there before but all the high-end shops can be found there.
If you want to enjoy Bangkok's night life, check out Khao Sarn road. Alot of young tourists and locals go there.
If you like seeing old temples and ruins, you could go Ayutthaya city, which is 2 hour bus ride from the capitol. You probably could stay there for a night too.
Hope these may help. Is not much though. Have a fun trip.
I would also recommend Ayutthaya. It makes a nice side trip. You could also try to fit in a trip to Kanchanaburi for a day or two.
In Bangkok, you have to see the Grand Palace, and Wat Pho next door.
Thanks for yours information, thank you
Hey Degolasse,
you been to Kanchanaburi too?!?!? i stayed there for almost 1 year and a half. That place is amazing.
Yeah, I really like Kanchanaburi. I've gone a few times over the last 10 years or so, and find it a nice relaxing town.
Great to know someone like you who likes Kanachanaburi too. Sadly, many of my friends seem to hate it. They prefer Bangkok over Kanachanaburi.
I presume you always hang around the jolly-frog street. haha. anyway keep in touch. hope we can exchange our travel experiences more
Kindly tell me more about yours travel experince!! have you all been to Greece or turkey?
i always want to get a tour trip which can get these 2 country togather, unfortunately there is none. is it possible to go as free and easy?
Sights and sites:
Grand Palace, Wat Arun, Wat Pho (reclining Buddha), Wat Phra Kaew (Emerald Buddha), Boat ride from Saphan Taksin pier, Vimanmek Palace, Mah Boon Krong and a short walk away, Jim Thompson house, Siam Square, Silom night market Rama IV end, starts about 8pm, Chinatown (as well as shops there are a number of daily markets, Khao San Road, Platinum Mall and close by, Pantip Plaza, Central World and check out Big C across the road and a little walk along.
The Skytrain (BTS) makes getting around easy. There is also a subway system (MRT). Both are easy to use. Just watch others. Taxis are metered and cheap but traffic is bad.
Do watch out for pickpockets. Buy a map, about 50 baht which has places of interest, transport information, etc.
Both Greece and Turkey you can book day or longer tours when there, but Greece is not the best place to be at present as it has serious financial problems. You can do both by flying from one to the other, and maybe flying back from that one.
Hi grace,
Nope i have not been to Greece and Turkey yet. I have only covered the central Europe which are Italy, Germany, France etc. Greece right now in political turmoil and society instability. i suggest you aviod Greece for the moment.
Maybe try going to other countries like Switzerland, Czeh republic, poland and Hungary. They offer some of the best nature scenery in the world.
By the way have you book a hotel yet in Bangkok? if not i can recommend Bangkok City Hotel which is cheap and close to the shopping district. Furthermore, is owned by a Malayisan.
Happy holiday
