I will answer your question in points:
1. It will be raining hard during monsoons, and there will be greenery all around. However, you must bear with mud, rains playing spoilsport and so on. The average temperature will be around 30-35 degree C
2. Rajasthan is mostly desert, famous for its magnificent forts and lakes. Its good in monsoons.
3. There are no beaches in Rajasthan. The nearest sea is off the neighboring state called Gujarat. However if you want beautiful beaches, try Kerala or Goa.
4. There are many beautiful places in Asia, but India is .. err .. India.

During your visit to India by July/August it would surely be wet and rainy in some parts of the country.. Also there are no beaches in Rajasthan.. and it will surely be hot there at that time..its a nice place to visit as its a colorful state.. rich in culture..and lots of things to buy..especially handmade stuff... of course there is no surefire way to predict the rainfall.. where and when it will fall but places I would suggest to visit for you would be Delhi..(covering the red fort and the bazar stuff), Agra.. (Taj Mahal and other historical places of interest) and eventually Rajasthan.. the village people.. their skill, culture and handmade products such as woven carpets, wooden showpieces and marble stuff with inlaying colored stones on them.. it should be an eye opener for you for sure..SInce all these places are in the North of India.. usually at that time of the year..it is hot and humid too.. .. other places of interest could be Mumbai / Pune / Goa etc. you could look up all the places of interests there online or books.. am at travelncute where it is just so yahoo if you need any assistance..Good luck

As others have said, Rajasthan is a good bet during Monsoon. It's a desert, so gets little rain, even that time of year. I spent the month of August there a few years ago and didn't get a drop.
Another place I would recommend is heading up to Ladakh. It's a beautiful and unique part of India, and since it's up in the Himalayas, it's very dry in July and August.
I think if you want beaches for your holiday, consider another country.
i wud lyk to tell u dat do some research about orissa,cheapest state of india where u can see konark temple,puri sea beach n lot more with just spending $50.

Rajasthan is not so good Idea in Summers ...but Udaipur is beautiful during Monsoons...
You can also try Offbeat Places in India... In July u can Visit Ladakh also....
Beaches are good in Kerala and Goa... But you can visit Chandipur beach in Orissa which is famous for its Uniqueness of the sea getting disappeared everyday.
To enjoy the best monsoon one should visit Meghalaya in the northeast ... which has cherrapunji and Mausinram as the worlds most wettest place ...
Rajasthan will be sweltering hot during those months. But it's the perfect time to head north to Himachal Pradesh. Manali is the big tourist destination and wedding season for locals. Manali is also the start on the 2 day road trip to Leh in Ladakh. In fact July to Sept is the only time this amazing road is open over the Himalaya. Some places in Himachal Pradesh will still have rains from the monsoons, but other places stay relatively dry and sunny. Once over the Himalaya into Ladakh it is sunny and dry. Try the deserts of Rajasthan during July-August. It would not be that humid as other part of the year! If you love beaches then Goa or Kerala are the best bet! Well monicarosmolen you rightly said that these months in India are hot and wet and Rajasthan is a good choice but it is too hot in these summers as temperature may rise up to 45 degree or more. But there are other places to go like if you want go for the beaches then Goa is the best option but again it is wet and hot but if you want to go some cooler places then you can head off to the northern region of the India like Kashmir, Shimla, Manali.
