Hey guys, first time traveller to Australia, I just purchased a Mini Travel pass on the Greyhound site from Cairns to Sydney for $375....but just as I finished my purchase, I saw that they had an "east coaster" pass that was basically a Mini-Travel pass, but with tours thrown in for $1200:
Hey guys, first time traveller to Australia
Wow, that's pretty awesome. Are you travelling to the future, or to the past?!
Now would you guys recommend going with this package (and cancelling my original pass), or would it be better to plan these things myself and stick with the Mini-Travel pass? I do plan on working out the math and everything, but I thought I'd ask on here as well.
Unless you planned on definitely doing these exact activities for these exact lengths of time at these exact places before you saw the pass, I'd recommend on doing everything yourself. Eyeballing the prices, these tours aren't particularly cheap, and you tend to be much better off with shopping locally after having talked with people who've done particular activities and can recommend you who (not) to go with. One can go see the great barrier reef along a huge stretch of coast, and kayaks and dolphins are found in many places as well.
Hey!
When are you going to be going on the Greyhound Pass? My friend and I (22, f, UK) will be doing the mini traveller from Cairns to Sydney between 13th November and 1st December.
You can add on tours as you go along, and we booked the 3d/2n GBR Sail 'n' Stay as we know we want to do it and when. With the other stuff, we weren't that interested and decided to book our accommodation ourselves, and the tours we actually wanted to do. I think all together, accom plus travel plus the tour just mentioned, Cool Dingo tour to Fraser Island, and 2 day trips while in Cairns comes up to a lot below the price of the East Coaster pass, and we get to do exactly what we want to!
Hope that helps and maybe see you on one of the buses sometime! xNx
