could somebody please help, I am planning on go to the US, and a relative has convictions once for theft and twice shoplifting 22 ago.
And I would like to know if any one else has had similar situation, and has been accepted for visa from he US Embassy.
Because we are now worried about the chances of a visa.
Sounds like the convictions would be 'spent' by now - I think around 10 years. Easiest way is to contact a court, police, or a solicitor and just ask.
you are the one who's going to the US, and your relative is the one with the conviction? In that case, you don't run any risk of being denied; it would be different if you had relatives convicted of terrorism, smuggling, counterfeiting...

Thank you so much for your replies, I will let you know how I get on in DEC 2010. As I have been told because we don't want to go till march, should not apply till Dec . Just in case any paper work out of date.
But I will definitely let every one know asap.
Thanks so much again.
