I'm looking for somewhere reasonably warm to go for a week in early October. I've heard good things about Madeira but the flights from Oop North are a bit of a nightmare - basically anything at the weekend requires a transfer in London or Brussells. Considering it'll take me the best part of a day to get there, is it worth the journey? Or should I go for a more traditional 'winter sun' destination like the Canaries?
