6 wks thailand,vietnam and cambodia

Hey all,

Hey,

Sounds like a great trip but not much time!

Travelling from KL by train to Bangkok is a pretty huge journey. If you could break it up with the Cameron Highlands or Tamen Negara in Malaysia they are fantastic places to go. The Pehentian islands on the north east coast of Malaysia are probably my favourite place on earth as the sea is so clear you can look over the edge of the boat and see the sea bed with turtles swimming!

In Thailand try and stop Ko Hai (which is unspoilt laid back and beautiful) from the port of pak meng pier on the south west coast is amazing. For a full moon party head to Ko Pha Ngan from the port surat Thani. there is more to this island than just a beach party and only and hour north is Ko Tao famous for its amazing scuba diving. Visiting the river kwai just west of Bangkok is stunning, riding elephants and jungle trekking in the north of Thailand is a must too.

In Lao the Plain of Jars is a stunning site as is luang prabang and the capital Vientiane.

In Vietnam (north) the sapa hill tribes and halong bay is a must see. In the South the Cu chi tunnels is well worth a visit.

In Cambodia, Angkor Wat of course, the killing fields near Phnom Penh are not really worth a visit but the Tung soleng Museum is a eye opener. Don’t bother with the beach in Cambodia but siem reap is a really cool quaint town.

With 6 weeks I'm not sure if I would attempt the whole trip unless you don’t mind sitting on a bus travelling every other day.

I hope it works out and you have a fantastic time!

Many travel websites provide a plethora of information for you to decide what interests you eg apart from this one but also Tripadvisor, Virtual Tourist and Travelfish in respect to these countries. Then you can narrow your posts down to specific places or accom. etc.
