I am planning on going to New Zealand from November 2010 till May 2011 [possibly later depending on funds and how brilliant it is].
Hey Adam,
I'll be in New Zealand from November too actually. Funnily enough I did the 'Sheepdog' pass earlier this year on the 'Kiwi Experience' and had an amazing time. I'm heading back in November to work for a couple of months and then head down from Auckland to Queenstown on the South Island in February for a mates wedding.
Hi Steve, thanks for the reply. Sound slike you had a good time, just wondering what you would recommend doing on the Sheepdog tour? Is there anywhere you wished you could have stayed an extra day or an activity that you wanted to do but didn't? And also how cheap/expensive is it in New Zealand? I just want to know how long I will be able to travel without having to start working. Thanks again, Adam.
Dear adam,
Are you taking holiday working visa in New Zealand?
Alice
Hi Alice, yes I am. Already applied and been accepted, now just need a plane ticket... hahah.

Well I had a bit more time so spent extra days in most places. Places I visited and stuff I did off the top of my head:
- Rotorua - did the white water rafting and went to a traditional Maori hangi (a big meal really). Both were great
- Taupo - did the Alpine crossing
- Nelson - visited Abel Tasman National Park
- Franz Josef - did the Glacier Hike
- Queenstown - went on a day trip to Milford Sound
- Marlborough Wine Region (this wasn't part of the Sheepdog pass) - Hired a bike and rode round all the wineries getting free tastings
I didn't do a bungi or parachute jump. And there is plenty more stuff I could have done, but for a lack of money.
New Zealand is great - the South Island especially is beautiful. Queenstown is one of my favourites places in the world, Wanaka is beautiful, Kaikoura, Akaroa, Nelson, there are so many places to visit on the South Island alone.
New Zealand is pretty expensive - not as pricey as Oz - but still expensive. I would budget around £1000 a month there.
Hope this all helps.
