Hello!
Hey,
Firstly, good on you for making the decision to go. It'll probably be the best on you ever make
Singapore: I think a week is a bit too long here but others may disagree. The zoo is really good and a completely different experience during the day to at night (you get a discount if you do both). There are also some really interesting parts of town - Chinatown and Little India are a must. Eat your meals with the locals in the Hawker stalls (basically, foodcourts that are essentially outdoors but with a roof) as it's cheaper and still tastes great. Orchard Road is great for shopping. I spent 3 days in Singapore and it was enough.
NZ - I'd say you need about 3 weeks to a month to do a comprehensive trip. I lived in the North Island for 6 months when I was 18 and fell in love with the place. Highlights in the North Island are Taupo, Rotarua, Napier, Wellington. I personally wouldn't spend too much time in Auckland, just enough to see the sky tower. In the South Island, you'll want to see Queenstown, Christchurch, Franz Joseph, Kaikoura, (for the wales!). Takapo is also really pretty. The West coast is a bit wild but the usual stopovers (Greymouth and Westport) aren't much to look at. I've done both the Kiwi Exerience and car hire/self drive in NZ. Despite what people say, the Kiwi X bus isn't just a party/shaggathon so ignore the horror stories, but prepare for a good time! Not sure which bus you're booked on though...? On the Kiwi X we just booked accommodation on the day - the bus drivers would help.
Aus - I've only done the East Coast but took a month to do it - pretty much all beach towns until you get down to Sydney, but lovely all the same. Cairns isn't great - just a jumping off point to the barrier reef. Don't spend a fortune on renting an underwater camera like we did though - the reef is much prettier in the Whitsundays. Make sure you do some 'side' trips - boat to the Whitsundays (we did a 3 day trip) and Fraser Island. Noosa and Byron Bay are also nice. Sydney is stunning. Melbourne is lovely and chilled. Canberra is odd - worth a visit to go and see parliment but I wouldn't spend much time there.
Give me a shout if you have any questions!
