We are overseas Vietnamese from Hawaii, going to visit Hanoi in October. We learn that on 10th, Oct, 2010, Hanoi will celebrate 1000 year anniversary and we want to travel to Hanoi on this occasion. Besides, we will visit Halong Bay for 2 days. We are wondering, it will be crowded in both Hanoi and Halong Bay at that time. So does anybody who has experience of traveling in 2 these places give us some advice for comfortable journey to Hanoi and Halong Bay?
I'll give you the contact info for my travel agent in Hanoi. I doubt that you'll have too much trouble, but I would book hotels and cruise asap. I've used this agent for 3 trips, he answers emails the same day, and is very accommodating (and inexpensive). Mr. Diep owns and can give you up-to-date info on Halong Cruises. Hanoi is my favorite city in VN - never a dull moment there.
