Hi,
I plan to visit India for 3-4wks late Dec-Jan. My big things are tiger safari, taj mahal, varanasi and the ganges, kerala and goa. Some hiking if possible but not sure about making it up to the Himilayas. A bit of pampering towards to the end would be great (maybe Goa fora couple of days). Thinking of flying into Delhi and out of Mumbai. Mostly, soaking up the culture as much as possible.

Hi Cat!
Just come back from being in India for 6 and a half weeks. I was doing a medical placement in Kerala. Kerala is definitely a must; it's a huge state though and you won't be able to see everything. I would personally recommend going to Kochi, Kovallam (near the Southern tip of India), Varkala, Perriyar and Kottyam. Try and get on a houseboat, it is absolutely incredible and so peaceful. We went to Goa but I thought it wasn't as great as the other places that we'd been to. Maybe it was the time of year but it's worth a visit!
Went up to the North and did the Golden Triangle. The Taj is absolutely out of this world and you can't go to India without seeing it. Visited Jaipur and saw lots of forts and the textile markets.
The weather should also be good but as we went in July/August it was monsoon season and you would get the odd down pour of rain. I would definitely recommend going on the trains, they are an experience! In Kerala I felt extremely safe when on the trains and the people are so kind and welcoming. I didn't use the trains up North so can't be of use there!
Hope this helps, if you need any other help don't hesitate to ask!

Hey
I did an exchange to India a few years ago and mostly stayed in Ahmedabad, which is just like any other city. But in my last week of my stay there, my host took me up to Mt Abu ( about 2 hours car ride north of Ahmedabad) and it was an absolutely stunning place to explore and chill out. I am not saying it is a must see as this is the only part of India i have visited, but I would do some research on it before I ruled it out.
Hope I help
Regards Tom
Another 3-4 weeks.
Cheers 108 - if only!
Hi there
My best advice to you is try not to do do much.India is a huge country and travelling by bus and train can be long and frustrating-but that's all part of the fun ! If you have just 3 to 4 weeks I would concentrate on one area -maybe go to Agra from Delhi for example and then spend most of your time in Rajasthan - Jaipur,Pushkar,Jaisalmer,Udaipur are just a handful of the amazing places you could visit in this area.Or maybe just stick to Kerala. Now I'm confusing you but If you want to stick to your itinerary I really think you'll be rushing around too much and that's not enjoyable.
