With Family in THAILAND

Hi frenz, I with ma FAMILY ( My mother, mother's sisters, my bro ) sorted out a visit to singapore which includes a Cruise also, now we have some 2-3 days remainig , so i am thinking of Thailand, but my traveller guy told me Thailand is not good for us, as most people in our group may not like it, is it so guys? We are from a Orthodox Muslim family, so want some "Modest" places only...

It all depends on one's point of view if one place is more modest than another or if it even amounts to didly squat! I personally don't see any problem visiting Thailand, millions of Muslim men seem to like visiting Thailand, some even take their families along. Many Muslims live in Thailand, if it was so bad they would have left a long time ago, perhaps they prefer the freedom!

Three days isn't a lot of time to get from one country to another cheaply, you would have to fly. Perhaps you would be happier somewhere in Indonesia for your available free time.

Good luck.

i dint meant whole of thailand is bad and all.. heard that some places especially beaches, some are topless and all...

If Indonesia, which is the best place to visit in this short span?

" i dint meant whole of thailand is bad and all.. heard that some places especially beaches, some are topless and all..."

There may be a few foreign women who go topless (I assume you mean women not the men) every now and then but in general the beaches are not topless! When you do go to a beach in Thailand you will see a lot of pretty women in bathing suits, some will be brief bikinis.

Maybe spending a few days in Jakarta will be more to your liking. Easy to get to from Singapore by air.

From Singapore you could get to Kuala Lumpur pretty easy. Large Muslim percentage of the population. Malaysia is a nice place to visit too.

Or, if you still want Thailand maybe a visit to Hat Yai, Yala or SongkLa will be okay. But with only 3 days to kill your time will be eaten up with lots of flying.

Good luck.

Although the flight from Singapore to Bangkok isn't too long, it's still a pretty far ways to go for just a couple days. I'm not sure if you're looking for beaches, culture, museums, or what.. but if you want very family-friendly and modest place with some amazing beaches, there is an Indonesian island called that's only a 45-minute boat trip from Singapore. Indonesia is a Muslim country so that's a nice aspect of it! There's a number of resorts (for different price ranges) on the island and it's a good choice because it's so close to Singapore, and 2 or 3 days is definitely enough time to spend in Bintan. I went here with my family in 2008 and I thought it was lovely. Just my recommendation! Have fun!
