Use the Second Narrows. The Lion's Gate will suck.
Try to go down the Pacific coast. You'll have to pass into CA from Mexico farther down, but it saves you two border crossings.
Have paper work, in triplicate, for every bit of your car. Mexican officials will try to gouge you for this and that. Be firm. But the mordida is inevitable
